GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR + PERSONAL TRAINER
Seobia Rivers is a Certified Personal Trainer and group fitness instructor with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Illinois State University. She began personal training and teaching group fitness during her college days in 2011. She has worked in various fitness settings at places such as Gold’s Gym, Illinois State’s Campus Recreation center, Xsport, the YMCA, Advocate Healthcare, and Johnson College Prep High school. Seobia has taught a wide range of group fitness class formats including: kettlebell, TRX, Pilates, yoga, cardio kickboxing, cycling, cardio dance, bootcamp, circuit training, HIIT, and core strength. She believes in bringing a contagious vibrant energy to her classes by creating a non-judgmental and encouraging environment paired with a safe, effective, and challenging workout. What’s most important to Seobia is helping her clients become intrinsically motivated by creating individualized exercise programs based on the client’s needs, wants, interests, and past history. She preaches and practices living a healthy lifestyle instead of encouraging things like fad diets, supplements, and waist trainers. Right now Seobia teaches Physical Education and Health at a middle school on the Southside of Chicago called CICS Wrightwood while also teaching group fitness classes at ‘Healthy Hood’ located in Pilsen and coaching for a nonprofit organization called Girls on The Run.
